Coconut Oil = Home Run!Jan 13, 2013
By LPennington Whether you're trying to mix it into your cooking routine or use it topically, the stuff is incredible! Coconut oil, especially all natural ones, are miracle workers! They're so much healither than the alternatives. I use it so much I can't understand how I survived without it. I'm in my late 20s and I use it on my skin, in my salads, when I cook....it's so multi-faceted!!
If you go organic, you're not going to lose much if anything from brand to brand. My only suggestion is to utilize another organic oil in conjunction with the coconut oil for better results when it comes to skin and hair care. My oil of choice is almond- NOW Foods Sweet Almond Oil - 16 oz. + FREE 100% Cococare Coconut Oil - 4 fl oz. The two combined are a double whammy! Hair, skin...it's a great additive or alternative in each case. The benefits are so worth it! Almond oil has a little more depth in my hair and I think the two combined are unbeatable on my face and skin. They are girls' best friends!!

Best Tasting Coconut Oil I've Tried: Quality is A+Oct 02, 2009
By Amazon Enthusiast
"The Lucky One"
Nutiva's Organic coconut oil is the best I've found. I've tried several brands, but nothing tastes as clean and pure as this. There is a definite undertone of coconut, but I like the flavor, even when frying eggs or eating it on cinnamon raisin toast. I recently had bloodwork done and my HDL (the good cholesterol) was an impressive 77---anything over 39 is considered in range; over 50 is heart protective). I attribute this great HDL number to using only coconut oil, butter, and olive oil in my cooking & drinking green tea.
Amazon's Subscribe & Save offer is a great deal; I really like the 2 pack of these smaller (15 oz) jars. We're a small household and I like keeping one jar sealed while using the other. Keep in mind that coconut oil is different than other oils--it is solid at temperatures under 76, so it will look something like shortening in the wintertime. Still tastes great and is wonderful to use in all kinds of cooking.
One more important detail: this is an organic, COLD PRESSED coconut oil. Others may be organically grown, but I've found some brands are hydrogenated to make them solid at room temperature (I won't go into all the reasons this is not a "good thing"). Suffice it to say that any coconut oil you buy should be cold pressed (and that goes for your olive oil, as well). Google to find out why...
UPDATE 3/19/13: Updated the temperature threshold for melting point: it's actually 76 degrees, according to the Nutiva label (not 72 degrees as I previously guesstimated).

So many uses, many benefits!Dec 04, 2012
By Paula Berry I use coconut and jojoba oil for moisturizing my dry skin and since I've converted from creams to oils, my skin has never looked or felt smoother. I use it on my legs and arms mostly but it works just about everywhere.
A little goes a long way which means just a little jar will last a very long time which is great cost-wise, and with just a couple drops, my skin stays smooth all day. I will sometimes use the jojoba oil on my face in the evening as a facial moisturizer -Desert Essence Pure Jojoba Oil + FREE 100% Coconut Oil. The coconut oil on the face feels kind of greasy.
Besides that I sometimes also use it in lips -makes chap-stick feel like chalk. None of these oils ever leave any residue/stains on my pillowcase or clothes either so there is really no negatives to using these wonderful oils!

By CheeryToes I've tried two of the major coconut oil brands that I order via the internet. I've been using the oil in food and on my skin for about 5 years. I ordered this just to see how it tasted because the price was so good, if it didn't taste right, I'd just use it on my skin. It is the BEST tasting oil I've tried. Tropical Traditions, Coconut Oil Supreme pale in comparison. This is truly a coconut oil you could eat right out of the jar. If you want to try a coconut oil that tastes as good as it smells, this is it. And the price is fabulous. Yea, Nutiva and Amazon!

I love this coconut oil! It has a delicate coconut aroma and flavor. I have only just started using it but have found it to be delicious when making pancakes in lieu of using butter. I have also used it as a substitute for butter when making grilled cheese sandwiches and baked sweet potatoes. It will do wonders for your hair and skin too. I especially like using it as a hot oil treatment for my hair. I mix the coconut oil with a few drops of lemon essential oil and rub it into my hair. It smells like dessert and good for my hair and scalp. Try it with your favorite essential oils!
Warning: It melts at 76F. Be careful when opening a jar that's been sitting in a warm cupboard.
