Cheaper elsewhereMar 26, 2012
By C.N. Cotten Bounty has created a confusing array of sizes (see below), from 52 sheets up to 130 sheets per roll (8 different sizes). In the stores, they give you the price per 100 count of sheets so you can compare prices of different sized rolls. Here Amazon tells you the cost per roll -- which is meaningless for comparing two rolls with different sheet size.
What is being sold here is the "Large" 12 regular rolls at 65 sheets/roll. I generally get a much better price on sale at Target/Walmart. Even on Amazon, there is the "Bounty Basic Paper Prints Towels-12 Giant Rolls" -- a Giant Roll is 78 sheets-- currently for $18.09 (subscribe and save price). So you get more sheets for less money (at least when I wrote this review).
On top of that the sheet size can vary, a roll can have either normal size sheets or smaller ones. These are the normal size sheet -- the smaller size ones are called "select-a-size". So two rolls with 52 sheets/roll could differ in price if one is regular size and the other has smaller sheets. The smaller sheets look about half the size.
In paper products, "Basic" means "you get what you pay for"Mar 12, 2012
By Dorothy Rosa
The household paper products industry is a tricky beast, at least when it comes to how it markets low-end paper towels and bathroom tissue. I have yet to see a product labeled "basic" that does the job as effectively -- or economically -- as more its more upscale siblings, and this product is no exception. As I worked my way through a whole case (bought on the "Subscibe and Save" plan, which we greatly value) I continued to marvel, daily, at how it took two sheets of "Basic" to do the job of one sheet of "regular" Bounty. I often found myself going through an entire roll in a single day. Not good.
How to tell the difference between levels within the same brand? Forget the words on the package ("One roll of [name] = 10,000 rolls of [name]!") Paper product marketers speak a foreign language -- in English not meant to be understood by mere mortals. The best we can do is try to find comparable packages and feel for density and weight. Cheap papers are rolled loosely to give the impression of bulk; higher-end papers don't need to be "bulked out" because there's simply more (and better quality) paper there. Yes, we all want to conserve, but using more lower-quality product rather than less high-quality product won't save any trees or save us money.

Good, basic, paper-towelsDec 27, 2011
By C. Henry I'm a basic kind of guy, and like basic paper towels, so these fit the bill perfectly. Personally, I despise the newer "select-a-size" paper towels that seem to have become the norm. These Bounty "Basic" paper towels are just that: paper towels, with no fancy patterns, or extra frills. When it comes to the actual quality of the paper towel, I can't tell that these are any worse than a "premium" paper towel. They all seem to hold up about the same. So, if you're looking to save some money, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these paper towels.

Not the same as regular Bounty paper towels.Nov 25, 2011
Don't expect anything close to the original Bounty paper towel. These are not nearly the quality and not worth the lower price.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!Mar 13, 2012
By eastmom1520 Just received my shipment of these paper towels and am EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality. Very thin, almost see-through. Not the usual quality of Bounty that I was expecting. Definitely not the "quicker picker-upper" that Bounty is known for. I was excited about 12-count package thinking I would not have to buy paper towels for a while, now I'm dreading having to use all of them. Definitely not worth the price. If you are looking for a good, everyday family paper towel, keep looking!
